Thank you, Monica, for this news. I was watching for an update on her Caring Bridge site; please send a link to her obituary when you have it. Jana was a wonderful  friend, daughter, sister, mother and grandma.  She will be missed by many. Cheryl, my thoughts & prayers are with you.

There will be graveside services for Jana on Thursday at 9:00.  I can't think of the name of the cemetery even though my parents are buried there.  It is the one out on old Hwy 50 West of Newton.  Her dad is buried out there.

As I read about Jana's death this morning I had a picture of her in my head. It was her senior picture, showing her healthy and whole. Thoughts and prayers to her family and bestest friend Cheryl, and thanks to God that Jana is at peace.

I learned last week, that Barbara Klassen died last year.  I hadn't heard this, and it apparently wasn't posted in the Kansan.  Norma Klassen Ruff, Darla's lovely mother, died last week and my mom went to her funeral (she was 99!).  There she saw Kathy, Barb's older sister.  She learned that Barbara died in 2015.

(Her obituary has been posted at the IN MEMORY section - TC)

I am deeply saddened by the recent death of Jana Garrison.  My condolences go to her family and her friends, most especially her closest friend, Cheryl (Stallard) Dawson.

My sympathy also to the family and loved ones of Barbara Klassen.  Kate Edwards described her perfectly--a "gentle, quiet person."  That is how I have always thought of her.  I'm also saddened to hear of Darla's mother's death.  She was a lovely, gracious woman.  My sympathy to Darla and her family.

Love and blessings to all of you!

Since I'm in Newton for the evening I've been digging through photos. This was a birthday slumber party, thank god we remembered to bring our curlers. Probably about 8th grade?

Hi, Carol!  What a fun photo you have found!  I love all the curlers!

Hello everyone! I appreciate the kind words for my mother, Carol and Sherre. I will try to post some things soon. That was quite a picture, Carol! Geez...hard to believe those curlers! I am still teaching 7th graders...📝 It was good to see that Bill is still acting! It is a long time since Dudley Dogen put us in front of the all school assembly...Take care, all😀

The curler cuties are L to R -- Marcy Phillips, Maureen Koehn, Nancy Woods, Pam Nye, Carol Little, Mary Rich, Barbara Klassen. Down the row in front, Nancy Cravens, Diane Moberly, Bette Meier, Darla  Klassen.

Sherre, you must have been out of town, ill or something, I was trying to figure out why you wouldn't have been there!

I remember when Jane Brandt, Debbie Phares, Jeanie Seagraves, Joni & Jolene Box and a few color guard pard’s dragged main Newton and Douglas. Yep! Our heads where covered in those huge pastel colored curlers, including tin cans with both ends removed secured with 3 inch bobby pins. .... I’d wear my beloved baby-blue ruffled hairnet... Ha! Like, I needed a few more red curls. LOL!  Say! June, did you ever come with us?    Hummmm!  Wonder why guys didn’t try to pick us up!!!!    Curly hugs from Newton. Connie

Am I the only one without curlers in my hair?  That would figure.

June Nicodemus (Peters)

Connie, I don't ever remember dragging main in my curlers....but I don't remember a lot of things...so it could have happenedblush

Actually it was my birthday party -- but I do remember a fun one at Nancy's as well! There's one more picture, you can see my new blue record player there. I'll try to retrieve it and send along.

Well Carol- Is this your party where we sneaked into Kent's back yard because boys were over there?  It makes sense that this is your party because it does not look like the upstairs bedroom we slept in at Nancy's.   Your parents must have had nerves of steel, except we were all good kids, just giggly.  Also, was Julie Jost there? Were we 8th graders? Bring on the pics.
