Is there online viewing of her artwork?  I love to collect paintings by artists I know.  My mother used to work at the Manor and I think my sister did as well.

Surgery did not go well for Jack. Surgeon only removed what they could get of the brain (left side) tumor, so they did not get it all. Jacks brother told me that he will under-go possible chemo etc. pending, first it will take a few days to get the bio test results. It was a very sad thing to witness when the family got the news. Jack and my son Wes (bypass) had surgery at the same time.

Prayers for the whole family for strength and calm, this was totally unexpected.

Connie,

Your heart is so open and receptive with an enormous abiity to embrace people. Both situations, Wes and Jack, are beyond understanding, I am grateful that you with your mother's heart were there for Wes, and as an unplanned representative of our class, for Jack and family.   Our prayers continue for both families.

Merry Christmas Greetings:

What a difference a year makes! And here we are ready or not to conquer yet another one. When I was little instead of counting sheep, I would count how old will I be in this and that year…. I also remember thinking what I would I be like, and now I know! 2016 Wow!

Anyway, I have not heard any more about Jack’s situation, but hoping to visit with family before Wes is transferred to a rehab facility before going home. The triple bypass was hard on him and between diabetic and dialysis pain medication was very-very limited. But he maintains strong in faith with determination to get through this. The doctors and staff are pleased and amazed with his up lifting attitude and continued recovery.

We feel blessed and rejoice to celebrate Christmas at the hospital with our son and family.

Both men (Jack & Wes) appreciate your continued kind thoughts and uplifting prayers.

Joann asked me to let you know that  Jacks tumor was star shaped with the end points spreading out connecting onto delicate blood vessels. The surgeon removed the larger mass and vein-fingers as much he could without causing bleeding and other complications. Tumor tested results showed an aggressive cancer. Jack will need 18 months of chemo and radiation treatments.

At this time they only allow Jack short intervals of sleep, continually check him with simple questions, what is your name, what year is it, etc. Jack’s been blessed with a sports active life keeping him in excellent and strong health that gives hope and encouragement.

When I went into his room (7th floor), there were two young high school students from Halstead on each side of his bed talking and encouraging their wrestling coach. Joann said that company/visitors helps Jack keep alert. Joann has stayed at his bedside since surgery Monday. She is bravely enduring the unknowing with strong faith and confidence for healing. She appreciates all your thoughts and continued prayers.

Also, there is a possibility that Jack and Wes will be transferred to the same care rehab facility located on Rock Road Wichita. I will let you know. Estimation: to be transferred Monday 28th.

Connie,

Thanks for all the information.  So sorry to hear all that everyone is going through.  It sounds like Wes is surrounded with great thoughts and prayers.  Good luck and God bless.  Good luck to Jack and his family.

Thanks Connie.

When Jack gets moved he will be pretty close to me so I will run up and see him. When my daughter Sandy had her brain  tumor we were so blessed. It was not cancerous. Prayer is a very powerful tool and with Gods power Jack will get through this and his family as well. Prayers are constant and I know first hand with God answering prayers to keep Sandy safe and cancer free and her surgery was 7 years ago and still cancer free, so we pray all goes well with Jack.

I wish all of you a very Happy New Year. May you receive God's  blessings and be a blessing to others.

Please add Jana Garrison Young to your thoughts and prayers list.  Her cancer flared up again in June and this week she had a PET scan to see how the last 6 months of chemo have gone.  The news was not good.  There is even more cancer in her bones and spots on her liver.  The doctors are working on changing her chemo.  You can follow her progress on her Caring Bridge page.

Below is a copy/paste email on Jack Thaw

Connie

I never got down to check on Wes.  How is he?  Been adding him to our prayers though.
So This is day 17 and we're still here, but looking at dismissal today.  Jack has done extremely well and will bypass the rehab hospital and go home.  They are working on home health for PT and speech therapy at home just for strengthening.  His mobility is good and everyone here is amazed. JoAnn

JoAnn,
I am so pleased to hear from you. I check every time I go to Our Lady of Lourdes to see if Jack is there. Wes was thinking about him today. Wes will be in the hospital/rehab one month come Thursday with possible release from rehab on WED. Both our men have a long way to go... but each day proves better than the next. Life is good, God is faithful, we are blessed.  Connie.

I had a wonderful time at breakfast this morning. We laughed so hard I thought the staff was going to ask us to leave. LOL!

Anyway, this afternoon Jim Guhr from Joplin Mo. dropped by to say hello and ask if I would post this cell phone and email (below) for anyone free this afternoon to give him a jingle.  (Sat. Jan 9th) He is staying with his mother at the Villa in Hesston KS., but will only be in the area today… Said, he was sorry to miss breakfast, but sure would enjoying hearing from a some of us.

Also, sending very happy birthday wishes to Bill Boyd and Aimee Koehn Metzler

Hugs Connie

I'm sorry I haven't been around to communicate with you guys.  So sorry to hear about Jack Thaw.  Lost my Mother-In-Law (who showed me what a Mama really is) three weeks ago.  My Father-In-Law (who taught me what "Daddy" means) is living with us, for the time being.  He's 90.  Just closed the best theatre experience I ever had with a show called "Outside Mullingar".  Oh, how I miss having friends nearby.

I was sad to hear that Jana Garrison passed away today.  It's hard losing yet another classmate.  It makes you  want to hug your children, appreciate your friends, and enjoy the time we have left.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and to her best friend,Cheryl Dawson Stallard.

Thank you, Monica, for your kind words.  This was hard for me.  Love and prayers to her family.  She was a strong, strong person that grounded me in so many ways.
