Hey June, you said you couldn't remember a lot of things that happened in the 60s, and you know that they say, if you can remember the 60s, you weren't there.  Now are you thoroughly confused? devil

You all have such better memories than I do!  I wonder what songs were playing on Carol's record player?

That is a good question about music,Nancy,  The one song that sticks from the Freshman Frolic was something like "Do the Freddy" and the Freddy(sp. ie?) was a weird dance that was more like an exercise in gym.  I doubt that it was playing since this must be a 7th or 8th grade picture.  What are songs you remember from back then? I am pretty sure I was outside messing around in the yard or walking and not listening to the radio when this picture was taken.

You have me curious, Nancy.  Does anyone out there remember the music?  This could be one of those brain exercises to keep up young.

For some reason I remember doing the Freddie in Jr Hi. A teacher made me stop when I was doing it on my knees.

The Beatles were hot:  Twist and shout, I wanna hold your hand,  She loves you. One of my ALL TIME favorites Puff The Magic Dragon. Others include Judy's turn to cry, It's my party.  How do I remember that while I can't tell you what I had for lunch 20 minutes ago.   OH. OH. OH. LOUIE LOUIE!

Thank you for identifying the curler girls, Carol!  I figured out most of them, but there were a few I wasn't sure about.  I'm sorry I missed the party, but have no recollection why I did.  :-)  The photo sure brought back some fun memories!  Thanks for sharing it, Carol!

Bill, great job!  How about Beach Boys?  I remember a Chisholm performance of some of the best of the Beach Boys performed by different class members.  No more details come to mind.

Yes there were some back yard shenanigans, Reenie. I also remember Kent and Doug and others knocking on the downstairs windows while we curlered and snacked.

I imagine some of the girls must have brought some records, as I wouldn't have had many to start with. But I do remember my first 45 was Dawn by the 4 Seasons. And then Rag Doll soon after -- I was a big fan!

Bill-

I remember all those songs, too.  The reason I remember doing the Freddie at the Freshman Frolic is because my A line skirt was too tight and the rebound of my leg about made me fall...but the song became popular before that.  I love the late fifties songs and the memories of my sister dancing in the living room to Hi Fi Hop with Bill Brooks...the Chicken Scratch was one of those dances.  My dad kept telling her she was going to wear holes in the rug.  I loved the Four Seasons singing "Marlena" and "Blue on Blue" by Bobby Vinton, and Elvis singing "All Shook Up."  I was in 6th grade when she was a senior, so I was more of a spy.

The Beatles did perform first in the U.S. when we were eighth graders.  I remember that night on Ed Sullivan when my aunt and uncle were appalled as we all watched these long haired wild boys.  My entertainment before they were on was sitting quietly at the dining room table and drawing pictures out of our Funk and Wagnell set of encyclopedias of Michelangelo.  I was "square" as my sister called me.
