Bob Hurley and I were drivers for Red Cross at the blood center in Wichita. I haven't seen Bob for a few months, he usually drove in the afternoon and I in by the morning. That's to bad to hear he has passed.

It makes my heart ache to hear of Bob's passing. He was such a good friend and we have lots of memories together.

Thanks,

Barb G

My sincere condolences to the family of
David. I am sure he will be dearly missed by those classmates who were close to him.
Thank you Beverly for sharing your memory of David. It was a story that I did not know.
Even though it happened long ago, I am saddened and angered that someone stole your clothes. It was an unkind joke. Thank God for David. In today's world we need more Davids.

Classmates:

At our age, it's never too early to start thinking about our 55th REUNION. To start the discussion, we are interested to know what time of year you would prefer - Spring, Summer, or Fall. We would plan to have a Friday & Saturday get together in Newton. More details in the near future, but let us know which time of year you would prefer.

I am sorry to inform you all that our friend and classmate Ric Terrones has passed. Ric lived in Mesquite, Texas with his wife Rita and had retired from the Mesquite Police Department. Ric and I were good friends in high school, playing in band, marching band, and jazz band - including traveling to other cities to perform. He was the best!

We will share additional information as it becomes available.

Who is on either side of you Martin?  And the two in front of you?  I wonder if that is Shirley Boese in the back next to Judy Legee.

Dear Classmates, sorry I’ve missed so many opportunities to wishing so many Happy Birthday these past months. And it’s hard to believe that I turned 73 in June along with episodes of dizziness, fast heart beats, breathlessness, nausea, and lack of energy. I eventually went to the heart doctor for several different test that showed for a O’Gal my age I have a very good heart. So, at this point and time everything seems to point towards an inactive/long-healing process over shoulder/arm/hand injury, plus a carry-over called Long-Covid. At least I know I’m not going to keel over with heart issues, so it’s a matter of pushing myself to giddy-up go with folding chair close by. LOL!

With that said, my goal is to get my recliner legs energizes enough to keep up with my active heart- beat. So, if you live close to Newton, please come join me at the Rec. Center for a freebee one hour swim M-F at 1:00. The water’s warm and nobody cares what you look like in a swimsuit because everyone there is well over the 50+ mark. I’d say LOL, but not sure if that’s funny or not. O’ well what the heck LOL! Hope to see you there…. Connie

Connie,

Sorry to hear that you have had some age-related issues. It sounds like you are on a good path toward mending them.  We recently got an unexpected reminder that we are "getting up there" in years.  We have gone on a lot of cruises in the last twenty years, but haven't done one since COVID.  So, last weekend we booked a cruise for October.  Then we started to work on reserving excursions for each of the stops.  We picked a water resort in Cozumel which included an underground river to explore. That sounded like a lot of fun.  When we selected "Purchase", a window popped up saying that we are not eligible for that excursion because we are TOO OLD!!!.  Wow!  We weren't expecting that one!  We grumbled a bit and then tried to pick a snorkel trip.  You guessed it!  TOO OLD!!  Come to find out, about half of the excursions have an age limit of 65 or 70. (Surprisingly, zip-lining through jungle canopies 40-feet above the ground did not have an age limit!)   So, in spite of the unexpected reality check on our age, we still found some fun things to do and will have a good time.  Next time, we will have to do these more dangerous activities on our own.  😊
