TERRY (BERNOWICH) SCHMITZ sent me a note updating the class on her mom yesterday (7/28) . . .

"Just thought I would let everyone know that my mother had her stent put in today and she is doing very well. She should be back out at Kansas Christian Home sometime tomorrow. Thank you for all of your prayers and kind thoughts and words, they really helped a lot!"

Good news . . . .

Just thought I would let you all know my Mom is back in the hospital.  She went to the doctor Thursday, August 21st about the pain she was having in both her lower legs.  He said the ulcerations and the pain were caused from blockages in her legs so he stuck her right in the hospital.  Today, Friday, he checked to see where the blockages were and he said she had three blocked arteries in her left leg, 2 blocked arteries in her right leg, and 86% blockage to her left kidney.  They are going to keep her in the hospital until Monday and try to put a stent in one artery in her left leg and they will give her blood thinners.  Hopefully this will help them avoid doing any amputation.  Please keep my Mom in your prayers.  We hope that the stent and the blood thinners will be all that she needs for her circulation problems in her legs.  Thank You.

Terry Bernowich Schmitz

Just thought I would give you all an update on my Mom.  They were able to put the stent in her left leg this afternoon and so far it is working.  She is in CCU at Newton Medical Center and is doing good.  Thank you all for your prayers.

Just thought I would give you all an update on my Mom.  She is back at the nursing home and is not doing well.  Her legs are still very painful and she is getting weaker.  The nurses thought it was time to call in hospice so we called them in on Saturday.  My mom absolutely does not want to be on hospice but we convinced her it is the thing for her to do at this time so she signed the papers.  The nurse came for the first visit today and my mother was very mean to her and refused to cooperate so we told the nurse to let us know the next time she goes so we could be there with her and maybe calm her down.  Please pray for my mother that she accepts this next step in her care.  Thank you.

It's so hard to imagine your Mom like this when she was the best dancer on the floor. If she's being mean to Hospice I guess she's still fighting. Please know my prayers are with her and your family. Janie

Terry…

Mom has been our class “dancing queen” since I can remember. Her life is like the salt she sprinkled over the dance floor bringing flavor and engery for all to enjoy…. I will pray for your tender situation and that all of you will be covered with endless love and understanding overflowing with inner-peace and calm through the coming days. Love you all. Connie

PS> give Mom and hug for me.

Terry so sorry to hear the surgery did not fix all the problems my church and family members across the country and my self too, have been praying for her. my mom was also very mean to hospice she new what it meant by having them there and that is what she was angree about not angree at the person just the reason she was there.  it is so hard for someone who had been so active all their lives to admit they can not be that way any more once the acceptance comes then she will settle down. we were fortunate to be able to keep my mom at home but it did not stop her from being mean we went thru 3 hospace nurses then finally settled for my neice who worked in a nursing home she would not take any skuff from mom. It will take a hard core hospice person to deal with your mom. I pray for you Terry, you are the one who has been the closest to your mom I know first hand how painfull it is to see her this way and you need to put on your armer of God so you will survive this ordeal. Turning to God is the only way you will draw the strength you will need. I love you and your mom like you are family and it will be almost as hard as losing my mother all over again Joan has been so good to me on a personal note and I know you know. In constant prayer for you and all your family.

Thank you all so very much for your thoughts and prayers. They are really appreciated and I know they are working.  The hospice nurse and hospice aide were our to see mom on Friday and my sister Vikki and her son Rob and I were there.  I think my mom is finally going to be more cooperative and accept their help.  Before everybody got there, I sort of had a little "come to Jesus" talk with my mother about her behavior and attitude.  She's never heard me talk to her in this manner before and I think I got her attention.

Please keep us in your prayers, it is really helping!

By the way, when is the Bowling fund raiser for Becky, I plan on attending!

Breadbasket Breakfast this morning had a good turnout. Mike Roberts from Sarasota FLA was here visiting his daughter’s family, he brought them along so we could see his new grandbaby. What a sweet-pea. Anyway, until next month…live well, love much, and laugh as often as you can, and don't put cinninmon in your bedsheets.

Also, “thank you” Kim for reserving the backroom for our breakfast-gathering. Connie
