Roger Morton
Thanks for the retirement wishes. I had the hip replacement on Feb 24 and came home on the 27th. It went better than I expected and I'm rehabilitating well.
Terri and I plan to go to the Sweet Adeline regional contest in Tulsa the end of March. Her chorus is the outgoing champion. Then we are coaching a small chorus, coaching 9 and 10-year-olds in public scripture reading and judging some events at Leadership Training for Christ in Rogers Arkansas on Easter weekend. My brother, Mike, is getting married in June at Silver Dollar City, MO. We're planning a genealogy trip through Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Iowa. And finally, to the Sweet Adeline International Contest in Baltimore. So, I have a lot of motivation to follow my exercise instructions!
Bill Boyd, I'm glad you are getting to do what you really love to do!
For those wondering whether to retire: everyone's case is different, but it doesn't take as much savings as you might think. For me, my body and mind made it clear that the time had come. It helps if you can wait for Medicare coverage; health insurance premiums are outrageous! We don't expect to have the desire to travel as much 10-15 years from now, so we're going to take the trips while we have the money and reasonable health. We don't know how many days we have, so I figure, do what you can, while you can, and continually give thanks to the One who gives you the day.
I want to meet for breakfast in Newton whenever I get back!
best wishes,
Roger
Oh, and, before I went to the hospital, I lost 20 pounds! How? I haven't the slightest idea.
