It was good to run into Connie last night at the DCI show in Cessna Stadium here in Wichita. I am pleased to report that she apparently behaved herself, since we never saw WPD or security running through the stadium.

Wishing everyone a great time at the reunion!!  Once again, we will be a no-show due to a business/travel commitment that was scheduled nearly a year ago. I promise, one of these days.......

Martin thanks for the vote of confidence, but you should have been at the drum corps reunion party after the show.... hummm-hummm! Ladies special $1.50 margarita’s and 1/2 price Mex food. Put that with a room full of old drum corps buddies... Whalla! They even paid for my DC show ticket, meal, drinks, everything... all I was out was gas to come and go. What a grand time. I dearly love those guys!

My John might think twice about letting out of my cage "alone" next year and come with me. I got home around 2:30 AM... can you believe this... I got lost and so turned around in Wichita, headed south instead of north. Knew I was on the wrong path when I starting seeing signs about casinos and Oklahoma!!!! Ha! My life is interesting at times.

Anyway, back to the Drums Across Kansas: I cried almost through the whole Madison Scout show as it was so moving with combination of old-style and what we classify as the "new" dancing-band-theatre (Yuk!). The Scout's had a good balance/mixed with lots of awesome old style DC that for me is just breathtaking. Life is good; you will certainly be missed at the reunion. Connie

Hi Everyone:  Well, the time is drawing near and it looks like a great response from fellow classmates. I'm ready to put on my dancing shoes on for the festivities and I've lost a few pounds so I can put them back on for the delicous eats. Looking forward to fellowship, fun, talent show, games and everything else the committee has planned for a spectacular 45th reunion. Looks like you've all done a fantastic job! Thanks for your hard work. See you in August.

Just before closing there was a Balloons Release in dedication to our classmates who have passed before us. We all stood in the parkinglot watching them float towards the heart-of-Newton as the metallic glittered from the reflecting lights below until they become part of the stars in the open skies of Kansas. It was a beautiful solemn moment for all of us.

I enjoyed the cheerleaders, but I can Imagine what THEY were thinking.

I guess it's kinda hard to read the ballons I attached to the cheerleader pictures.

Left: "Do you think we'll look like these poor folks in 45 years???"

Right: "Goodness, I hope NOT!"

Actually, That's what I thought they might be thinking when I took the picture.

What they don't know is that on the inside, I AM YOUNGER than they are!  And so are all the rest of you!

Hi Everyone:  I just wanted to thank everyone for a great reunion. I will fly back to Louisville, Kentucky tomorrow (Wedns.) with fond memories of good fellowship, good food and wonderful entertainment. I had a blast and it's taken a few days for my feet to get back to normal from all the dancing, my left hip back to normal from all that wiggling around and my mouth back to its normal position from all the laughing. I am indeed looking forward to our 50th reunion wherever it's held.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES  smiley

Vickie (aka: Victoria)

Enjoying the reunion pic sampler!!! Anxious to see more....

Speaking of pictures, we have been going through tons (well, it seems like tons) of old photos that my mom had tucked away in box after box. Here's a blast from the past. Those were the days. 1960, Cub Scout Pack 111 backyard campout. Left to right, front row: Dale Rose (RIP), Martin Libhart, Robert Scheffler, Duane Laswell (RIP); back row: Mike Henry, Eddie Meyers, Tom Collier.  Mrs. Scheffler was our "Den Mother", and the campout was in the Scheffler's back yard.

What an absolutely fantastic idea June. I'm just sorry I live so far, far away or I'd join you monthly. I don't think my honey would warm to the idea of me driving 12 hours to join you for breakfast and fellowship then 12 hours back home. Oh well, you'all enjoy each other and thanks for the wonderful reunion memories. cheeky

June, Sounds wonderful!  I already marked my calendar!  I really missed working with all of you on the committee this year. You all did a wonderful job and you are all so much fun to be around. Vickie we will be thinking of you at all of our get togethers. I thank you all for making my mom feel so welcome at our reunions.  She really enjoys all of you.

We really enjoy your mom Terry.....she is such a hoot!  I hope I'm that energetic when I'm that age.  It just amazes me how she can go and go all evening.  What a gal!  Looking forward to seeing her at the next reunion.

I can't be at the Breadbasket  in person, but I'll certainly be there in spirit and envious of your fellowship. In fact, I'll be on the 5th hole at Seneca Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky swinging my little heart out wink.

Hey ALL -

It was good to see/meet Julie Jost (Thiessen) at the Saturday breakfast. Her family (Mr. Jost was owner of the farm equipment store [on Meridian?] ) had bought my family's house on Allison Street (by Washington School) when we moved to Ash Street (Lincoln School) - all those many years ago. She had lots of memories about teachers and classmates from Washington School and Chisholm - many will remember her and it should be fun having Julie as our "classmate" (she is listed in the profiles as Guest Classmate - so, . . . go visit her profile or drop her a note).

I hope to try something NEW on the site - sort of a "monitored blog" - where classmates can email reports in (and remain anonymous if they wish) about anything they might feel is of interest to the class. Like maybe - the latest info/rumors on reunions and get-togethers OR perhaps you know of a classmate who has received an honor, OR they have appeared in a press release, magazine article or been published, OR has a YouTube video posted, OR is ill, may be in the hospital, OR you want to tell your classmates about your trip around the world on a unicycle! It isn't meant to be a  "Bad News" gloomfest OR a replacement for the "Message Forum" - ALWAYS check the "Message Forum" for the latest "flash" from fellow classmates. Hopefully it will be more of a "monthly" newsletter/blog that can be "archived" at the end of each month and started anew. I'm still thinking about how to pull it off - BUT watch the "Home Page" for changes.

Hopefully this finds ALL of you WELL and HAPPY - (now get up and get busy!)

Talk to you later . . . .

Tom C.

Julie Jost (Thiessen)

Tom, thanks for giving me guest status on this site!  I have enjoyed reading the profiles and seeing the pictures of my friends from so long ago.  I have fond memories of Washington & Chisholm.  I told my husband about what a wallflower I was in grade school & junior high, and he thinks it is scary how much I remember about those years.  I loved seeing the reunion pictures--Nancy Cravens and Hans Neufeld, Janet and Pam, and so many more!  I feel honored to be a part of this class and cherish the memories of my fellow classmates and teachers.
