Don was my neighbor during our elementary school years. During that time, I was in an accident, resulting in a few months of hospitalization. Don would send comic books to me while I was in the hospital. Then, when I was able to come home, he would ride his bike by the house and talk to me as I sat on the porch in my wheelchair. He played a big part in my recovery-- I was later able to chase around on bikes with him and have mudball wars with him and Brenda Swim. After we moved to the other side of town, I lost contact with him and rarely saw him in high school. But I will never forget what a sweet friend he was to me during a very trying time in my life.
