Terry Bernowich (Schmitz)

Switlana's Niece, Traci Gehrke, sent me a message and also posted on Facebook that there would be a light lunch after the services at the Church by the cemetery. All are welcome to come and share memories of Switlana.

Thanks for sharing your memories of Switlana. She was such a sweetheart. Just a side note I thought "you were suppose to kiss and not tell"! LOL I am glad you got a 5-star man in your life!  Switlana will be missed by many!

Thanks Marci! I pondered whether to share our special club, but it is such a funny story.  Thank you for your regards about Roger.  We would have been married 50 years this week.  He was a five star in so many ways!  I thank God for having him in my life for so long.

Thank you all for your wonderful stories about Switlana!

They are still looking for a home for Switlana's little doggie, Wolfie. They have a temporary home for her now, but they feel she needs to be with someone or family who doesn't have other pets. I guess she is a little spoiled (ya think) but is a real sweet little thing.

I know the family would appreciate you sharing your memories on her obituary page at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home's email site.

That way the funeral home can print them out for the family.

Classmates, I received word this evening of the death of Stan Koehn from his sister, Virginia.  Stan passed away late yesterday, September 5, at his home in Manhattan.  Although he had recently been under the care of hospice, his passing came unexpectedly.  I thought it was unusual not to see Stan at our recent reunion and now understand that his health had deteriorated significantly and he had been hospitalized for an extended period of time.  Stan lived a life full of experiences that would have taxed many of us but he just rolled with 'em and maintained the PMA (positive mental attitude).  Raise one in his honor, he'd want it that way.  Virginia will let me know when a celebration of life will be held.

Growing up, Stan and I lived within a block of each other and had some wonderful, fun times together.  Stan was a kind, funny, wonderful friend.  Sending love, prayers and beautiful memories to his family and friends.

Shocked and saddened to hear of Stan's passing.  He was a really good friend in high school, and I always thought I'd run into him sometime in Manhattan but I never did.  Seems impossible that now I never will.

Stan and I used to sit together at the summer matinee movies at the Fox theater during our middle school years. We saw the Beatles movie, I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and he kept singing the song through the whole movie!

Such a funny and nice guy!

Stan and I lived close to each other in North Newton from grade school on; we ran around together as kids, rode our bikes everywhere and made up various "clubs" of which we were always founding members. He was a great guy. Condolences to his sister, Virginia, and the rest of his family.
