Tom had a great sense of humor.  Loved his quirky comments, loved his jokes, loved him.  He will be missed.

I had lunch with Tom every Tuesday, along with several other of our Class of 68 classmates. Still stunned after receiving the phone call this morning. I have been friends with Tom for 60 years, beginning in elementary school and cub scouts. Such a dear friend - witty, smart, and always a GOOD friend. We will all miss him dearly.

I have really enjoyed being with you and tom at our reunions and parties, and I will surely miss him at our next one. I'll be looking for details about his services.

Sincerely,

Roger

I was so saddened to read this news.  I had shared his musings "EGOS", with several of my friends.  He was such a fun loving guy and a hilarious way with words.  Much love to Mary.  He will be greatly missed.

Tom and I shared a lot of history.  We did time together at Lincoln Elementary, Santa Fe Junior High  and NHS. However, some of my fondest memories are from little league baseball.  TC was the quintessential clean up man, he was our own “Big Papi.”  When he made contact, the ball easily outdistanced the light coverage at Athletic Park or found it’s way onto the street at Washington Road Park.  You could walk home from first base!  He was a gentle soul with a quick wit and an easy smile.  Rest easy my friend, we’ll take it from here.

Stunned indeed that OUR CLASS TOM COLLIER has passed... gulp.  Mary, wise Mary, my heart goes out to you. While Tom was at a happy place and with you, you have to carry on to return home. I will be thinking and praying for you until I see you. Tom will always be a favorite: so kind, quick, present, sweet, engaged, caring and so very bright. He shared so much of his time to create the bonds for our Class & to give us roots. He shared Mary as well !!!  Tom will be missed. I will always remember Tom and blessed for having gotten to spend time with him for over six decades.

I always have and always will think of Tom with a somewhat mischievous smile on his face. Although I am sad now I cannot think of him without a smile on my face.

Classmates,

Plans have been finalized for the celebration of Tom Collier's life. There will be a gathering on Sunday Feb. 25th from 1-4 pm at the American Legion in Newton. There will be no other services. If you have been to any of our class reunions then you know where the Legion is. Please don't wear black or a tie! Wear hawaiian shirts or something casual to honor Tom's wishes. This is a CELEBRATION!

In lieu of flowers please send donations to KPTS in order to continue their musical entertainment or to Newton Public Library which were Tom's two favorites.

Kim
